Serge WIP 4

I hope everyone had a great holiday! I finally found some time today to paint Serge and I am glad to be working on this project again. I focused on his cape and that feather stuff on his shoulders.

Sorry that I haven't updated in a few days. It's the rush of the holiday season- you know the deal. I ran over my toe with a loaded milk flatbed, I'm running low on money and I still haven't gotten everybody their presents! I sure love the holidays. Actually, I really do:)

Serge update. I'm starting to get an idea of where I'm going with the color palette and the design of his clothes. My color palette will stay closer to the brown/red/neutral family. This painterly style is different for me but I like it- I like it a lot! My style tends to be meticulous and mostly finished but this is loosening me up. When I was painting, I thought about my painting instructor in college and how he told me things like "build up the shapes", "don't play it safe" and "paint wet into wet"(although this last one doesn't apply in digital painting, I'd compare it to the amount of opacity and flow). Opacity and Flow are terms from Photoshop and they are adjustments, like in real painting, it's referring to the amount of paint. I'm really getting into painting Serge, and all the while enjoying the discovery process.

It's snowing! As much as I hate the cold, I do enjoy watching it snow from my window. I have my little snowman snowglobe next to my little lighted Christmas tree, a hot cup of coffe and everything is perf- except for my massive headache! Agh! Why?

Anyway, here is work in progress Serge. I've blocked in the color but I'm still unsure how the color scheme will end up. I tend to paint and paint over until I feel comfortable with a working color palette. But so far this is what I have. Oh, I'm going for a painterly look this time so I'm leaving any good brush marks.

Serge is a quick sketch I did a while back, possibly a year ago, that I've decided to paint. He is a devilish character that lives luxuriously in a grand castle. His motives are unknown at this point:)

Digital Inkspiration

Greetings! Welcome to my first blog, Digital Inkspiration. I'm very excited to have finally started this blog. It's been quite an obstacle but I'll save that for later. You're all probably wondering what this is all about. Well, for those of you who know me personally I'm a pretty private person but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy showing my work in progress. That's where the idea for this blog came about- a place to show my work in progress and get feedback.
